I am very proud to be serving a third term in the Maine Senate representing the residents of the twenty two communities that make up Senate District 31. I was first elected to the Maine Legislature in 1998 as a member of the House of Representatives. In the House, I served as a member of the Committee on Utilities and Energy and as the Republican Lead on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee, as well as a member of the Economic Growth Council.
In 2004, I was elected to my first term as a Maine Senator and currently I serve as the sole Republican Senate member on the Appropriations Committee. My prior service in the senate includes election as Assistant Minority Leader in the 123rd Legislature, along with a term on the Health & Human Services Committee and the Select Committee on Tax Reform.
Some of the Legislative accomplishments I am most proud of include establishing Maine’s statewide, universal Digital Library, sponsorship of Maine’s new Defacto Guardianship law in the Probate Court system, development of the first state-wide public health delivery network, funding of the Hancock County Adult Treatment Court, placement of air monitors in Bradley, and legislation to measure and evaluate Maine’s economic incentive programs. In addition, I have been a long time supporter of research and development funding.
I am a native Mainer. I was born in Castine and grew up working at my family’s clothing store on Bucksport’s Main Street. Rosens was named the 2002 Merchant of the Year, by the Maine Merchants Association and in 2010 we begin our 100th year in business.
